Lincoln, Canterbury

Lincoln is a quaint rural town about 20 kilometres from Christchurch and is best known for its host university - Lincoln University.

The University was founded as a college in 1878 to provide a practical education in farming. The original Ivey Hall, now surrounded by modern buildings, is a notable historic site. At the college scientists developed new sheep breeds and wheat crosses. Students now also train for careers in parks and recreation. Many staff and students commute from Christchurch.

Lincoln University Campus

The Lincoln University campus is located in a 58-hectare park-like rural setting just 20 minutes from Christchurch Airport and the CBD.

With a relaxed, friendly environment, the campus is like a small village.

The university's high-rise towers and historic red brick Ivey Hall are surrounded by some of the most fertile land in Canterbury, while the village itself is home to the enduring charm of Liffey Cottage and the rustic peace of Liffey Stream.

Visit the University website for additional information.
