Deadline: 13 November 2022
Entries will be displayed virtually via Manaaki Whenua – Landcare Research’s (MWLR) Interactives website. Awards will be announced at the event during the conference as well on the New Zealand Ecological Society’s (NZES) social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter), and the event website. A selection of finalist images will also be on display at the conference.
The award for ‘Best Photo’ will be selected by an expert judging panel who will assess the entries for the quality of the image, composition and technical ability. The ‘People’s Choice’ award will be chosen by the collation of votes from our online voting system and the input of our judging panel.
Prizes for both awards will include a professionally printed, mounted, and framed copy of their winning photo up to the value of $200. The prizes will be sent to the winners address that is entered via their entry form.
The competition aims to highlight the diversity, beauty and interest of the biodiversity and ecosystems of New Zealand, and the role of ecologists in unravelling their mysteries. Images must either be taken in New Zealand or illustrate the work that New Zealand ecologists are undertaking in other countries.
All entries must be submitted online as jpegs (see the Conditions of Entry below.)
