Call for Abstracts

Preparing for your presentation at the conference...

Presenters are requested to upload presentations here, well before the session in which you are scheduled to speak, in order to ensure a smooth conference. Please also bring your presentation on a USB stick for backup purposes. Projector format is 16x9 (widescreen). Each room at the venue will have a data projector, laptop, screen and sound system along with internet. WIFI is also available for visitors. 

At the conference a designated support person will be in your presentation room to ensure all talks are loaded during breaks. Please check-in with them at least two breaks prior to your session to ensure that your presentation is correct and ready to go. You will have 15 minutes allocated for your presentation, 12 minutes speaking with 3 minutes of questions. Refer to the programme for your time. 

If you have videos or animations in your presentation, please embed the files in your presentation and transfer the video file together with your presentation. APPLE MAC USERS – please ensure your presentation can run on Windows. If any additional equipment is required, please advise us in advance. To aid transition speed, plugging in your own computer is not encouraged instead presenters are asked to use the lectern computer available.

Presenting a poster?

Please bring your poster with you on Tuesday. The team at the check-in desk will direct you where to go. Materials for hanging will be supplied and your poster location will be indicated by the number matching the programme. Please note that at the Poster & Networking Reception poster presenters are asked to be present alongside their poster. Please stay tuned to housekeeping and event app alerts for more information at the conference.

If you are happy to share your presentation following the conference simply upload a pdf version here. This is for both talk and poster presentations.

Virtual registration has been offered but no recording is occurring.

Call for abstracts information:

NZES is calling to its members and members of the New Zealand Ecological community to submit abstracts for the 2022 conference. Submissions are welcome across all ecological topics. One of the key aims of NZES is to provide an opportunity for ecologists from all career stages to share their work annually. This conference has a very inclusive nature and all submissions are peer-reviewed.

Guidelines

To submit your abstract please have your abstract on hand including a title and authors with affiliations.  We will also be requesting a profile image, short biography for the presenter(s) and any Twitter handle you may have,

  • Submissions should 250 words or less. 
  • If you are submitting on behalf of the Presenter, please have their email address ready to include in the submission.

You will be able to choose from the following presentation types:

  • Talk
  • Poster
  • Name of an accepted symposium (If you been asked to present as part of an accepted symposium or are interested in being part of one)

Presenters will be provided with details about the length of their talks and size of posters in the acceptance communication.

General Information

Language of Submission
All abstracts must be submitted in English or accompanied with an English version.

Word Count
Abstracts should 250 words or less.

Review and Notification to Authors
All completed abstracts will be reviewed. You will be informed by email (from nzes@confer.co.nz) of the acceptance status of your abstract in mid September.

Registration
All presenters are required to register and pay the conference registration fee in order to be included in the program and to present on site. Registration and payment of registration fee by presenters of accepted abstracts must be completed no later than the early bird deadline of 16 October 2022.

Publication
By submitting an abstract, authors agree to publication in conference proceedings or similar by NZES.

Presentation
Talks will be included within topical sessions of the official programme. Posters will be on display throughout the conference and further details will be advised with confirmation email.

Students wanting to practice their talks at Student Day can indicate this at time of registration.
