About Christchurch

Arrive early and spend some time in Christchurch before the conference!

Christchurch is a vibrant, energetic city where urban regeneration, creativity and innovation thrive. Picture amazing street art, innovative projects, a booming hospitality scene and state-of-the-art architecture that is changing the way the city looks, feels and functions – all the while staying true to its heritage and traditional English feel.

Take time to explore the city by double-decker bus, vintage bicycle, gondola, tram or classic Edwardian punt – or grab your walking shoes and discover bars, eateries and an eclectic mix of boutique shops by foot.

Transport in Christchurch

Buses, airport shuttles, and taxis are all lined up outside the Christchurch Airport terminal, ready to go. Taxis and Airport Shuttles offer door-to-door service and the public bus comes through every 15 minutes transferring into Christchurch.

Taxi ranks can be found outside the International Arrivals Hall (exit through door 7). It might cost $45-65, but prices can vary  depending on the company. Taxi companies take VISA and MasterCard. Taxi drivers do not expect a tip.

App-based transport

Ola, Zoomy and Uber are available in Christchurch. To meet your driver exit the terminal and follow the signs to the Rideshare Pick-up Zone located behind the Express Park (car park building).

Super Shuttle’s shared-ride fares offer substantial discounts for passengers travelling in the same group to the same destination. Shuttle rank is located outside the International Arrivals Hall (exit through door 7). You can book a shuttle by calling 0800 SHUTTLE (0800 748885) or visit the Super Shuttle website. Alternatively you can also book a shuttle through the airport i-SITE team on +64 (3) 741 3980. The i-SITE centre is located in the International Arrivals Hall.

Regular Metro Red Bus services connect the airport to the city centre and many other locations in Christchurch. You can buy your tickets from the driver. Buses depart from the northern end of the International Arrivals Hall, between the terminal and the Long Stay car park (exit through Door 9 past the Vodafone counter).
