Welcome to the GSNZ Annual Conference 2026

Tēnā tātou katoa,

We would like to welcome you to the 2026 Geoscience Society of New Zealand conference in Rotorua. This conference will be held in a uniquely dynamic geological environment, that is home to a wide array of natural geothermal features with deep links to iwi Māori, at an event that seeks to grow our understanding of the world around us and tackle ongoing challenges. 

The conference will be hosted at the Rotorua Toi Ohomai campus from 30 November - 3 December. With a mix of oral and poster sessions, pre-conference workshops and field trips, this conference will be an exciting event for all. We will also ensure that another successful EarthFest event will be hosted alongside, to bring the community together to learn about the exciting Geoscience work currently underway.  

Social functions will include an icebreaker event, gala dinner and less formal opportunities to engage, including an Early Career event.

Conference Dinner and Awards 
$4,000 + GST | Exclusive

The GSNZ annual awards dinner will be held on Wednesday 2 December with good food, prize-giving and dress-up. Benefits include: 

  • Opportunity to give a 3-minute welcome address.
  • Naming rights and recognition in the conference promotional material and conference programme.
  • Verbal acknowledgement as the dinner sponsor during the evening.
  • Acknowledgment on the conference website, including logo and link to your website.
  • Opportunity to display your own free-standing banner (supplied by your organisation) in the venue. 
  • Opportunity to brand, decorate and /or provide promotional material/gifts and activities at the dinner (at your expense and with committee approval).

Icebreaker Function 
$3,000 + GST | Exclusive

Monday 30 November. This is the first networking opportunity for all delegates. Food and drinks will be served. Benefits include:

  • Logo on the conference holding slide, which is displayed at all sessions.
  • Acknowledgment on the conference website, including logo and link to your website.

Early Career Researcher Catch Up
$2,000 + GST | Exclusive

Have direct access to the early career researchers in an informal setting. This function follows on from the Icebreaker function and will be held on Monday 30 November. Food and drink will be served. Benefits include: 

  • Opportunity to give a 2-minute welcome address.
  • Recognition in the conference promotional material and conference programme.
  • Logo on the conference holding slide, which is displayed at all sessions.
  • Acknowledgment on the conference website, including logo and link to your website.
  • Opportunity to display your own free-standing banner (supplied by your organisation) in the venue.

Session Partner

$2,000 + GST 

Support, chair and promote your selected session relevant to your organisation. Partnership benefits include:

  • Recognition in the conference promotional material.
  • Your logo on the welcome slide at the beginning and end of the selected session.
  • Opportunity to display your own free-standing banner (supplied by your organisation) in the room during your sponsored session.
  • Recognition in the conference promotional material and conference programme.
  • Acknowledgment on the conference website, including logo and link to your website.


Field Trip Partner

$1,500 + GST 

Several field trips will take place post-conference on Friday 4 December. Benefits include:

  • Recognition in the conference promotional material and conference programme.
  • Acknowledgment on the conference website, including logo and link to your website.
  • 1 x Complimentary pass to join the field trip (depending on space availability at time of booking).


Exhibition 3m (w) x 1.8m (d) Space Only
$1,750 + GST

The conference exhibition will be in the L Block at the Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology Mokoia Campus, close to the catering and registration desk. 

Includes:
  • One dressed trestle table
  • Two chairs
  • Power access
  • One complimentary Exhibitor Pass
  • Your company logo with hyperlink to your website on the conference website.

Exhibition Content
We encourage exhibitors to create a dynamic and creative display, providing participants with an added incentive to visit their stand.

Need More Equipment? 
If you need additional items for your stand, such as velcro-receptive panels, furniture, lighting etc. these can be hired by contacting Exhibition Hire. Contact details will be sent to you in the Exhibition Manual. 

Exhibitor Pass
  • One complimentary Exhibitor Pass is included per exhibition space and covers morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea and one ticket to the Icebreaker Function.
  • Additional Exhibitor Passes may be added on at $300 + GST per person.
  • Please note an Exhibitor Pass is not a Conference Registration. If you wish to attend the scientific sessions, please register at the delegate rate.
  • Exhibitors are welcome to purchase tickets to the two ticketed dinners.

4.00pm to 7.00pm - Exhibition open for registration and the Icebreaker Function.

Tuesday 1 December 8.00am to 5.30pm

Exhibition open for the duration of the day. 

Thursday 3 December 8.00am to 2.00pm
Exhibition open until after lunchtime. 
Pack out after 2.30pm. 

Space Allocation
Spaces are held first for package partners. All other spaces are available on a first in, first served basis. The final floor plan is at the discretion of the Conference Organisers who reserve the right to make any modifications required.
