It is our greatest pleasure to invite you to the 8th International Conference on Advances in Experimental Structural Engineering (8AESE) to be held in Christchurch, New Zealand February 3rd - 5th 2020. This event is an excellent opportunity to present and learn about recent advances in a broad range of topics related to the physical modelling and testing of structures. It also provides a unique platform for discussion and networking between emerging, established, and leading researchers in all aspects of structural testing. 

The 8AESE conference is jointly organized by the Department of Civil and Natural Resources Engineering at the University of Canterbury (UC) and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The University of Auckland (UA). This conference will consist of keynote lectures, technical presentations, and panel discussions. In addition to these, there will be opportunities for tours through the structural testing laboratory facilities at both UC and UA, as well as a guided structural engineering themed walking tour within the Centre of Christchurch.

The University of Canterbury is the venue for the 8AESE conference and is located close to the heart of Christchurch. The City of Christchurch itself has much to offer including: a revitalized City Centre with many excellent bars and restaurants, beautiful beaches, mountain bike parks and is only a few hours away from surrounding vineyards. Christchurch is also a gateway to the rest of the South Island, where, you can experience azure blue lakes, majestic mountains, spectacular coastlines, and ancient forests.
