Pre-Conference PLD offering for New Deputy & Assistant Principals

We are introducing a pre-conference PLD offering designed specifically for new deputy and assistant principals. This two-hour session will take place the day before the conference and will provide valuable leadership insights and strategies tailored for those new to the role.

Date & Time:

  • Date: 30 July 2025
  • Time: 3.00-5.00pm
  • Location: Tākina Wellington Convention Centre
  • Cost: No extra cost to conference registration

Why Attend?

  • Gain practical leadership insights from experienced school leaders.
  • Connect with peers who are also new to the role.
  • Prepare for the main conference with a focused leadership session.
  • Re imagining leadership, considering new ways to approach leadership in these complex and unpredictable times.

This workshop will be held just before the informal meet & greet at Shed22, offering a supported segway into that evening’s networking.

Registration Details:
Spaces for this offering are limited. Sign up during registration to secure your spot.

Facilitated By: Geoff Childs
Geoff Childs has worked as an educator for most of his life – in primary, secondary, alternative education and tertiary education. In the last decade or so, he has focused on in-service teacher and school leader development. Now mostly retired (a terrible cleaner, and a keen golfer) he works with small groups supporting reflective practice helping teachers and leaders to tackle the hard questions. He is a strong believer in translating theory into practice and ensuring effective practice informs theory. The interesting stuff – loves his fam, lives in Porirua, has two grandkids, plays guitar badly, helps eradicate possums and other pest life in Rarangi and Papakowhai.
