Preparing your presentation at NZIP & PHYSIKOS 2023

Oral Presentations & Workshops
Please check your presentation date, time and length in the current Conference Programme.

The room you will present in will have a laptop with internet access, data projector and screen as standard. 

PowerPoint Slides

Please ensure you use a Powerpoint 16:9 format (widescreen). There is no template provided and there are no requirements in terms of images or branding that need to be included. A link to upload the slides has been emailed to you from nzip2023@confer.co.nz. Please also bring your presentation on a USB stick for backup purposes.

Poster Presentations

Your poster will be on display for the duration of the conference.  Please plan to print your poster and bring it to the conference. The poster format can be a maximum size of A0 in either portrait or landscape. You will be provided with the materials for hanging it up.

Poster Networking Session You are asked to stand with your poster for the Poster Networking Session (hosted at the end of Day 1) so that people can converse with you about your work.

Submission Information 

NZIP is calling to its members and members of the Physics community to submit abstracts/workshops for the 2023 conference. Submissions are welcome across all physics topics and interactive workshops for educators are encouraged. 

Something new  this year! Submissions to any of the confirmed symposia detailed here are also invited as part of this call. Be sure to take a look to see what is planned. 

Guidelines

To submit your abstract or workshop proposal please have on hand a title and authors/presenters with affiliations.  We will also be requesting a profile image and a short biography for the presenter(s).

  • The abstract body has a limit of 500 words but we recommend 200 - 300 words.
  • If you are submitting on behalf of the Presenter, please have their email address ready to include in the submission.

You will be able to choose from the following presentation types:

  1. Talk (for presenting in the academic/general stream)
  2. Poster
  3. Workshop (for presenting in the education stream targeting secondary school educators)
  4. Name of an accepted symposium (If you have been asked to present as part of an accepted symposium or are interested in being part of one)

Presenters will be provided with details about the length of their talks and size of posters in the acceptance communication. 

The Workshop category in the education stream is meant to be flexible and may comprise short or medium-length presentations, interactive hands-on workshops, or discussion sessions. If you are proposing a Workshop, please include your preferred room format, suggested duration of the activity, any specialty support required and maximum numbers (if applicable) in the Abstract box in the submission form.

The conference will cover all aspects of physics and also will include symposia which will be made available on the programme page once finalised.

General Information

Language of Submission
All abstracts must be submitted in English or accompanied with an English version.

Word Count
The abstract body has a limit of 500 words but we recommend 200 - 300 words

Review and Notification to Authors
All completed abstracts will be reviewed. You will be informed by email (from nzip2023@confer.co.nz) of the acceptance status of your abstract in mid September.

Registration
All presenters are required to register and pay a conference registration fee in order to be included in the programme and to present on site (one day registration is suitable). Registration and payment of registration fee by presenters of accepted abstracts must be completed no later than the early bird deadline. 

Publication
By submitting an abstract, authors agree to publication in conference proceedings or similar by NZIP.

Presentation
Talks will be included within topical sessions of the official programme and workshops will be scheduled in a dedicated educators stream. Posters will be on display throughout the conference and further details will be advised with confirmation email.
