People’s choice award

This nocturnal fly taken by Wendy Allen received the most votes and it is a Blue Lake Fly taken Blue Lake Forest and Bird reserve in Rotorua. Wendy works in the Environment and Ecology Team for Scion in Rotorua and has let us know that the framed print will be hung in the reception of their new building for all to enjoy.

Judge’s choice award

This image of a White-fronted tern making a controlled landing on the Pancake Rocks of Punakaiki has been chosen as the best photo of the competition. Only taken last month by Kaila Colbin. It is clear to see why it was the judge's favourite. The bird has been captured beautifully in focus and the lighting adds to the interest of the image

Deadline: 22 November 2021

Prizes will be awarded for ‘Best Photo’ and ‘People’s Choice’.

Entries will be displayed virtually via Manaaki Whenua’s Facebook Page. Awards will be announced at the event during the virtual conference as well on NZES’s social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter), and the event website.

The award for ‘Best Photo’ will be selected by an expert judging panel who will assess the entries for the quality of the image, composition and technical ability. The ‘People’s Choice’ award will be chosen by the collation of votes from our online voting system and the input of our judging panel.

Prizes for both awards will include a professionally printed, mounted, and framed copy of their winning photo up to the value of $200. The prizes will be sent to the winners address that is entered via their entry form.
