The 2023 GSNZ Annual Conference organising committee invite researchers and professionals to submit abstracts for consideration and inclusion in the conference programme as an oral or poster presentation. 

Themes

Our themes for the conference are:

   II.   Geosciences for a Sustainable Future
   III.  Aotearoa New Zealand’s Active Plate Boundary: Landscapes, People and                      Processes
   IV.  Diversity and Indigenous Voices in the Geosciences

   V.  Misc/Other

Please select the relevant Session during your submission that most closely aligns with the content of your abstract. If not, please select your chosen Theme or you may choose Misc/Other.

Guidelines

Format of submission 

  • Abstracts to be submitted in English 
  • Submissions should be no more than 300 words
  • You will be required to enter details for the author/co-authors separately during the submission process. (author name, affiliation, email address) 
  • If you are submitting on behalf of the Presenter/s, please have their email address/s ready to include in the submission
  • Please select the relevant Session during your submission that most closely aligns with the content of your abstract. If not, please select your chosen Theme or you may choose Misc/Other.
  • Submissions are limited to 2 x abstracts per registered author (1 x oral and 1 x poster)
  • Researchers interested in presenting an outreach-focused paper in addition to a science-focused paper may submit one additional abstract.


Invited Keynote Speakers - If you have been invited to give a ‘Keynote' paper please email this to directly to the conference conveners c/o gsnz@confer.co.nz, and DO NOT submit it via the online portal. You are also welcome to submit a standard abstract for consideration using the submission portal.

Presenters of accepted abstracts must be registered by: 13 October 2023

General Information

Review and Notification to Authors
All completed submissions will be reviewed. You will be informed by email, from gsnz@confer.co.nz, of the acceptance status of your abstract by end of September 2023.

Registration
All presenters are required to register and pay the conference registration fee in order to be included in the programme and to present in person at the event. Registration and payment of registration fee by presenters of accepted abstracts must be completed by no later than 13 October 2023.  Please note Early Bird Registration deadline 13 October 2023. 

Publication
By submitting an abstract, authors agree to publication of chosen abstracts on the conference mobile app and conference proceedings or similar by GSNZ.

Presentation
Accepted oral presentations will be included within topical sessions of the official Conference programme. Posters will be on display during the conference and further details will be advised with the confirmation email.
