Known as Te Papa "The Treasure Chest", or 'Our Place', it opened in 1998 after the merging of the National Museum and the National Art Gallery. 

The 17th-most-visited art gallery in the world, an average of more than 1.5 million people visit every year. Te Papa Tongarewa translates literally to 'Container of Treasures'.

Please note if you are driving to the conference, there is limited parking at Te Papa. We suggest that you book a hotel with parking facilities.

How to get there

FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE CITY
  • Uber and Zoomy operate to and from the airport. You need an account and must order your car from your mobile phone - the cost is approx. $25.
  • Taxi ranks can be found directly outside the baggage claim area on level 0 of the main terminal. Cost is approx. $35-$40, but prices can vary depending on the company. They all take VISA and Mastercard. 
  • Super Shuttle’s shared-ride fares offer substantial discounts for passengers travelling in the same group to the same destination. Shuttle ranks can be found directly outside the baggage claim area on level O of the main terminal. 
  • There is currently no public bus to or from the airport.
