Prof. Andrzej Cwirzen

Prof. Andrzej Cwirzen is internationally recognised for his expertise in structural engineering, modern concrete technology, and sustainable cementitious materials. He is a Professor and Head of the Research Group for Building Materials at Luleå University of Technology (LTU) in Sweden. He also holds part-time professor positions at Silesian University of Technology in Poland and the University of the Faroe Islands in Denmark. He is a co-founder and board member of NowyAB.
His research focuses on nanotechnology, alternative binders, durability, and low-carbon concretes. He has established a strong research environment by supervising 18 PhD students, acquiring and leading several major externally funded research projects with a total value of over 9 mln Euros, and actively collaborating with European and international partners. He has also held visiting researcher and professor positions in Europe, Canada, the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. He has published over 150 research publications and is ranked in the top 2% of the most influential researchers in his discipline according to the Stanford University list.

Michelle L. Wilson

Michelle L. Wilson, FACI, is Senior Director of Concrete Technology and Industry Outreach at the American Cement Association (ACA). With more than 25 years of experience in concrete materials, specifications, durability, performance, and repair, she is a recognised authority on cement and concrete technology.
Wilson is the lead author of The Design and Control of Concrete Mixtures, the industry's most widely used reference on concrete technology. She oversees ACA's technical resources and supports industry initiatives focused on concrete performance, innovation, sustainability, and the Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality.
She has held numerous leadership roles within the American Concrete Institute (ACI), including serving on its Board of Direction and chairing Committee 301, Specifications for Concrete Construction. She is an ACI Fellow and recipient of the Arthur R. Anderson Medal. Wilson is also an Honorary Member of ASTM International Committee C09 on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from Milwaukee School of Engineering.
