Matt first gained national attention with the cult TV hit Back of the Y, before going on to work across television, radio, film, music, and live entertainment. He was also part of the band Deja Voodoo and is a founding member of the Alternative Commentary Collective.

In addition to his broadcasting work, Matt is the bestselling author of A Life Less Punishing and has appeared on numerous New Zealand television programmes, including Taskmaster NZ, Have You Been Paying Attention?, and The Traitors NZ.
