The 2025 Concrete Cricket Bat Competition showcases concrete’s versatility beyond traditional construction, challenging university students and industry professionals to design, cast, and compete with cricket bats made from at least 50% concrete. Held during the Concrete NZ Conference, the event includes an oral presentation, bat evaluation, compressive strength testing, and a friendly cricket match. Bats must be reinforced, meet dimensional requirements, and include a concrete-based handle. Sustainability is encouraged, with bonus points for low-carbon mixes. Judging combines technical evaluation (75%) and match performance (25%). The competition highlights innovation, creativity, and fun, while promoting concrete’s diverse applications.
