Call for Abstracts

Physiomar is a triennial international forum for discussion of recent advances in all aspects of the physiology of aquatic invertebrates.

2021 will include general and special-topic sessions including but not limited to:

  • Adaptation and resilience in a changing world
  • Genetics, breeding and disease tolerance
  • Physiology supporting food security: Aquaculture and fisheries
  • Chemically mediated interactions between organisms
  • Polar biology and climate change
  • Effects of marine heatwaves
  • Microplastics
  • Trans-generational effects and epigenetics
  • Ecotoxicology and pollution
  • Biomaterials and technological advances
  • Genomics and molecular biology
  • Reproduction and larval physiology
  • Immune response and pathology
  • Bioenergetics and nutrition
  • Role of mitochondria in environmental adaptation

Guidelines  

  • No fee is required to make a submission. You will be able to confirm attendance after receiving an acceptance communication and details of the programme and registration fees. Both virtual and in person options will be offered. 
  • Submissions should be no more than 250 words. 
  • You will be required to enter a bio for the Presenting Author (max. 100 words). 
  • If you are submitting on behalf of the Presenter, please have their email address ready to include in the submission.
  • You will be able to select a preferred presentation type as either talk or poster.
  • Instead of uploading a document the abstract title, body and authors/affiliations will be collected by individual text fields.

Presenters will be provided the length of their talks and size of posters in their acceptance confirmation. 

Are you a Canadian student? 

Physiomar 2021 with the support of RAQ will be offering funded registrations to selected students from Canada. To apply for funding support, you must:

  • Be a Canadian student 
  • Submit an abstract and look for confirmation of support with your acceptance email

General Information

Presentation

Due to the hybrid nature of this conference there will both virtual, virtual live and in person presentations making up the 2021 programme. Further and final details will be advised with the acceptance email.

Language of Submission
All abstracts must be submitted in English or accompanied with an English version.

Word Count
Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words.

Review and Notification to Authors
All completed abstracts will be reviewed. You will be informed by email (from physiomar@confer.co.nz) of the acceptance status of your abstract by April 2021.

Registration
All presenters are required to register and pay the Conference registration fee in order to be included in the programme and to present in person at the event. Registration and payment of registration fee by presenters of accepted abstracts must be completed no later than 31 July 2021.

Publication
By submitting an abstract, authors agree to publication in any conference proceedings or similar.
