The PCEE 2027 organising committee invites abstracts about recent developments, case studies, innovations, and lessons learned in earthquake engineering and related fields.

Topics

Abstracts should be relevant to earthquake engineering, seismic risk, resilience, or the wider impacts of earthquakes. Preference will be given to submissions that contribute to knowledge exchange across research, practice, policy, and community resilience.

Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Engineering seismology, seismic hazard, earthquake geology, and ground motion modelling
  • Geotechnical earthquake engineering, liquefaction, slope stability, ground improvement, and soil–structure interaction
  • Seismic design, assessment, retrofit, strengthening, and performance of buildings and infrastructure
  • Performance-based design, low-damage design, and resilient structural and non-structural systems
  • Lifelines, transport, ports, water, energy, and critical infrastructure resilience
  • Lessons from recent earthquakes, reconnaissance, post-earthquake assessment, repair, recovery, and reconstruction
  • Professional practice case studies, including design, construction, consenting, procurement, and project delivery
  • Tsunami, landslides, cascading hazards, multi-hazard risk, loss modelling, insurance, and decision-making
  • Community, cultural, social, policy, planning, governance, codes, standards, and emergency management aspects of resilience
  • Sustainability, circular economy, decarbonisation, digital technologies, AI, sensing, monitoring, and innovation in practice

Guidelines

Format of submission

  • Abstracts to be submitted in English 
  • Abstract Submissions should be no more than 250 words
  • You will be required to enter in the author/co-authors and affiliations separately during the submission process
  • You will be required to enter a bio for the Presenting Author (max. 50 words per presenter) 
  • If you are submitting on behalf of the Presenter/s, please have their email address/s ready to include in the submission

When selecting a corresponding author, please ensure that this person will have continued access to their chosen email address up to, and after the conference. In the case of student submissions, where the student may be completing their studies in the near future, it may be prudent for the student’s supervisor to act as corresponding author.

General Information

Review and Notification to Authors
All completed submissions will be reviewed. You will be informed by email of the acceptance status of your abstract by 14 September 2026. If your abstract submission is accepted, you will be required to submit a Full Paper by 2 November 2026. Once the paper review has been completed in December 2026, you will be advised if you have been allocated a poster or oral slot in the programme and you will be required to make amendments to your paper based on the feedback from the reviewer.

Registration
All presenters are required to register and pay the conference registration fee in order to be included in the programme and to present in person at the event. Registration and payment of registration fee by presenters of accepted papers must be completed by no later than 15 January 2027.

Publication
By submitting an abstract/paper, authors agree to the publication of chosen abstracts/papers on the conference mobile app and conference proceedings or similar by NZSEE.

Presentation
Accepted oral presentations will be included within topical sessions of the official Conference programme. Posters will be on display throughout the conference and further details will be advised with the confirmation email.
