The NZSEE 2021 organising team invites researchers and professionals to present state-of-the-art papers on the science and practice of earthquake engineering.

Paper topics need to be related to earthquake engineering but preference will be given to topics that complement the theme by providing new insights into:

  • Improving understanding of seismic hazard and risk 
  • Communicating seismic risk and mitigation strategies 
  •  Society, policy, and culture in understanding impacts and improving resilience 
  • Advancements in structural and geotechnical design and assessment 
  • Case studies and research supporting mitigation by retrofitting 
  • Resilience beyond life-safety and amenity 
  •  Improving resilience of lifelines and infrastructure
  • Better building management in emergencies 
  • Digital and emerging technologies 

Guidelines

Format of submission 

  • Abstracts to be submitted in English 
  • Submissions should be no more than 250 words
  • You will be required to enter in the author/co-authors and affiliations separately during the submission process
  • You will be required to enter a bio for the Presenting Author (max. 100 words) 
  • If you are submitting on behalf of the Presenter/s, please have their email address/s ready to include in the submission

  Presenters advised by: 2 November 2020 13 November 2020

  Paper Submission Deadline:  25 January 2021 9 February 2021 

  Early Bird Registration Deadline: 3 March 2021

General Information

Review and Notification to Authors
All completed submissions will be reviewed. You will be informed by email of the acceptance status of your abstract by 13 November 2020.   Once the the paper review has been completed in February 2021, you will be advised if you have been allocated a paper or oral slot in the programme and you will be required to make amendments to your paper based on the feedback from the reviewer.

Registration
All presenters are required to register and pay the conference registration fee in order to be included in the programme and to present in person at the event. Registration and payment of registration fee by presenters of accepted abstracts must be completed by no later than 25 March 2021.

Publication
By submitting an abstract/paper, authors agree to the publication of chosen abstracts/papers on the conference mobile app and conference proceedings or similar by NZSEE.

Presentation
Accepted oral presentations will be included within topical sessions of the official Conference programme. Posters will be on display throughout the conference and further details will be advised with the confirmation email.
