CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

SUBMIT YOUR ABSTRACT HERE

The 2025 NZGS Symposium committee invite you to submit an abstract for consideration and inclusion in the technical programme.

Topics for Submission

Submission topics include but are not limited to the following topics:

  • Climate change and geotechnics
  • Reconstruction following natural hazard events
  • Supporting resilient communities
  • Planning and response for hazard events
  • Communicating and managing risk
  • Innovative tools and technologies
  • Best practice in design and construction
  • Educating future geoprofessionals
  • Data science applications in geotechnics

Format of Abstract Submission

  • Abstracts to be submitted in English
  • Submissions should be no more than 250 words
  • You will be required to enter in the author/co-authors and affiliations separately during the submission process
  • You will be required to enter a bio/career history for the Presenting Author/s (max. 100 words each)
IMPORTANT: Once you have completed your submission, you will receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive this confirmation email, we have NOT received your submission. Please remember to check your spam/junk folders and contact the conference organisers should you need assistance at nzgs2025@confer.co.nz. 

General Information

Language of Submission
All abstracts must be submitted in English. 

Review and Notification to Authors
All completed submissions will be reviewed by at least two reviewers. You will be informed by email of the acceptance status of your abstract by 20 November 2024 along with details of presentation length and final paper requirements.

Registration
All presenters are required to register and pay the symposium registration fee in order to be included in the programme and to present. Registration and payment of registration fee by presenters of accepted abstracts must be completed by the early bird registration deadline of 15 August 2025.

Publication
Accepted abstracts will be published. By submitting an abstract, authors agree to allow NZGS and the 2025 NZGS Symposium committee to publish.

Presentation
Instructions for presenters will be included in acceptance communications via email from the domain @confer.co.nz so please ensure you safe list this domain.

Key Dates

  Abstract submission deadline: 11 October 2024

  Authors notified of acceptance: 20 November 2024

  Paper submission deadline: 9 May 2025

  Authors notified of Oral/Poster acceptance: 26 June 2025

  Early/Author registration deadline: 15 August 2025
