I was born in Croydon on the outskirts of London but spent most of my childhood in Sussex. I studied veterinary medicine at the Royal Veterinary College in London, qualifying in 1980 encountering homeopathy for the first time while working as an aspiring orthopaedic vet in West London. 

With the need to gain more knowledge and to broaden my skills, the following few years were spent in a large mixed practice in the New Forest before moving nearer to my parent’s home in Sussex to work in a small animal practice again where I discovered a secret supply of homeopathic remedies. With veterinary courses just starting at the Royal Homeopathic Hospital in London, I was keen to learn more, gaining my VetMFHom in 1991. The rest as they say is history, establishing the HVMC in 1995 and expanding the range of therapies to include herbal medicine and acupuncture and developing a special interest in treating horses homeopathically. 

I have been lucky enough to travel the world lecturing on veterinary homeopathy and to have written a couple of books; Homeopathy for Horses published in 2006 by Kenilworth and Horses and Homeopathy published by Saltire Books in 2011. I am currently writing Homeopathy for Dogs for the German publisher Narayana. I have three grown up children, have been married twice and I’m keen on mountain biking, walking, Indian cookery and photography. 

My lecture, How to Recognise Constitutional Remedies in Horses Quickly involves you doing some serious thinking - you will need a pen and paper to hand!

Her presentation will examine the causes, maintaining factors, and obstacles to cure of the longstanding mutual distrust between allopathy and homeopathy (dis-ease), along with the curative remedy. Sandy’s enthusiasm for homeopathy is motivated by a lifelong interest in the human condition and her core belief that people share an innate ability to heal.

I will be talking about the very interesting remedy Amber, also known as Succinum. A storm tossed remedy who never quite feel they belong. We will be looking at its emotional picture, its uses in Depression and also Lyme disease. The remedy will be illustrated with cases. 

He eats only white foods: sugar, eggs, coconut and grated bones. 
Resolving pre-autistic traits using Homeopathy

After delving into the life of obsessive French composer Erik Satie and his rigid diet, it’s easy to see why he has become the poster child of the Avoidant/ Restrictive Food Intake Disorder diagnosis and more broadly of Aspergers or autism. 

Linlee became fascinated by Satie’s white meal preferences. It became the leaping off point to explore colour-based food choices and selective eating, with a special focus on people who hover around the spectrum. A new world of understanding opened up about causations and presentations of some behaviours and the materia medica which they were illustrating.

Foods that are white may be more tolerable for individuals with sensory issues and hypersensitivity. Remedies to explore include Carc, the Lacs, Saccharum and Triticum-vg. Linlee will share cases still in progress and some resolved cases which were once in the mystery basket.

As homeopaths we can view selective eating/picky eating as the tip of the iceberg of underlying problems such as anxiety, depression, sensory processing disorder, autism, and ADHD. Homeopathy has a profound role to play in early childhood to halt progress towards deeper problems.

She developed and taught a three-year post-graduate program for veterinarians at the College of Animal Homeopathic Medicine. Lee has studied and completed internships with some of the most renowned international doctors, including Dr. Sue Armstrong DVM, Dr. Mark Elliott DVM, Dr. Peter Gregory DVM, Dr. Rajan Sankaran in India, Dr. John Saxon DVM, and Dr. George Vithoulkas in Greece.

We live in a time when animals are phenomenally suppressed from the removal of their sex organs in infancy, over vaccination, the overindulgence of worming medication, antibiotics, anti-fungals, poor quality processed food, and quite possibly the worst of all, not having free will to play, run, fight, have sex, or hunt. All the natural inclinations our companion animals have that keep them healthy, fit and happy are suppressed. 

Chronic disease and cancer are at epidemic levels with veterinary patients. When it comes to the treatment of animals, we no longer live in the time of homeopathy, when we could give one remedy wait and see.

In this lecture, I will share with you:

• the difference between treating animals and people
• obstacles to cure
• repetition
• understanding acute and chronic conditions and treatment
• navigating deep seated skin disease and cancer 

As homeopaths, the quality of life we can offer to our beautiful animals far outshines any other treatment options out there… we just need to understand.

I am actively involved in CAM research, primarily around the use of New Zealand indigenous plants. In my spare time I am writing a book on nursing history and I distil aromatics and dream of my next travel adventure. 

Deconstructing barriers to being effective researchers in CAM practices
Research and enquiry is necessary as they build knowledge. However at a practitioner level either reading or doing research may get forgotten in the quest to provide treatments. In this presentation I will look at how practitioners can use and contribute to research around homeopathy, and sow seeds of possibly starting own research journey by introducing the post grad CAM research offering at University of Canterbury.

Resilience, self-care and care of each other
Jan's presentation will cover the qualities we need to absorb the stress and hurt of our clients without becoming distressed ourselves, the practices which help us to look after ourselves and how to care for each other in a professional group which does not always enjoy public support.

Reality v perception
This presentation will aim to showcase how dependent animal homeopaths often are on the verbal account of the owner. Sometimes this, with our own observations of demeanor, etc, is all that we have to base our case work on. Where the owner is observant and accurate this can be very successful, but sometimes the owner’s story is not so close to the true picture. Various cases will be presented to illustrate how the owner’s narrative can be helpful or misleading. 

He graduated in Germany with a Masters Degree in Agricultural Sciences and a thesis on ‘Homeopathic treatment of farm animals’ in 1981. Extramurally he also studied natural healing methods at the Paracelsus Institute in Munich. For his thesis he trained with homeopathic veterinarians like Dr Hans Wolter and learned from his brother Dr med Ulrich Welte who is a consultant homeopath and head of a clinic near Freiburg/Germany.                                                                                                        

In NZ Andreas was the owner of the 300 acres ‘Castle Rock Farm’ near Motueka/Abel Tasman National Park from 1990 until 2016. The family farm was managed according to homeopathic principles and certified by BioGroNZ and the Biodynamic Association NZ. Not only the farm animals were treated homeopathically, but also the soil and various cropping plants like fruit trees, vegetables, forest trees and grasslands.

In his first presentation, Andreas will explain the history and background of ‘Homeopathy for soil and plants’, in his second one, at the animal and agri special interest day, he will work with participants through several case studies, diagnostics and repertory examples.
