Volcano Fest

Volcano Fest 2023, we are trying something new this IAVCEI general meeting, building on all the awesome extra curricula fun of Portland 2017. The aim of Volcano Fest is to have a social hub for the conference, a place to meet, grab a snack and drink (food truck and bar), mingle, play games ( table tennis, table football etc.) , check out art, photography and film, listen to music and interact with school groups and interested public. The concept will be set up like a festival for the whole week to promote good times and science, and to create student/young researcher focus for the conference.

We are forming a group of enthusiastic organisers and we are open to all sorts of ideas, and will be needing lots of volunteers. Think about bringing your favourite outreach demonstration, contributing your artwork or entering your local school in various volcano competitions. 

Here are some ideas:

• Volcano art competition ages schools and more
• Volcano story competition schools and more
• Volcano photo/film competition
• Hands on volcano demonstration for school kids
• Open mic - original volcano music
• Open mic pop covers - for Icebreaker (backing track acoustic guitar optional)
• Games leader boards - challenge your favourite/least favourite volcanologist to a game of top trumps or table tennis
