Showcasing oVRcome Technology and How It Can Help Patients
Adam Hutchinson
oVRcome helps reduce patients' anxiety about visiting hospitals by letting them experience the journey ahead of time, right from home on their smartphone. Through immersive VR, patients can walk through the hospital environment, see what the procedure will involve, and familiarise themselves with the process before the actual day. By making the experience predictable and less intimidating, oVRcome helps patients feel calmer and more prepared, leading to smoother procedures and better outcomes.

HCAs in the Operating Theatre
Marie Lory
Let's explore all the opportunities for our HCAs to work at the top of their scope within the operating theatre. We want to understand how they can best support nursing staff, enhance patient care, and help ensure nurses remain with their patients as much as possible. This is an open and honest space to discuss what has worked well, what hasn't, and where each of us is on this journey. By sharing our experiences, we can learn from one another and continue to strengthen our practice.
Marie is the Perioperative Nurse Manager at Christchurch Hospital and has been leading the nursing service for the past 18 years. Her leadership spans some of the most challenging periods in our region's history, including the Christchurch earthquakes and the mosque attacks. Marie holds a Master's degree in Public Management and has a deep passion for all things perioperative. Whether you love theatre or simply tolerate it, she is never short of an opinion — and she genuinely values hearing yours.
