Volcanofest

Open to the Public: Thursday 2 February 10am - 4.30pm

Volcanofest is a celebration of everything Volcano. It will be an exhibition of volcano demonstrations, art, and photography from around the world, and with a unique opportunity to meet famous volcanologists who will all be descending on Rotorua from all around the world for the week. 

Volcanofest is open to the public on Thursday 2 February from 10.00am to 4.30pm to wander in and experience.  Follow the Volcanofest signs around the side of the Rotorua Energy Events Centre to the side entrance to the Sportsdrome located on Queens Drive. 

There will be two 'Meet a Volcanologist' sessions where you can meet a group of experts from New Zealand and overseas, and join in by asking them your burning questions about volcanoes, eruptions, or what it is like being a volcanologist. These will start off with a literal bang so bring your cameras!

10.45am - 12.00pm Ask a volcanologist a question press conference
2.15pm - 3.30pm Meet a volcanologist, suitable for kids and families and interested members of the public
