On behalf of Te Huarahi it is my pleasure to invite you to attend the 26th NZ PPTA Te Wehengarua National Māori Teachers’ Conference 2021 which will be held in Pōneke at the Brentwood Hotel. The conference will take place on Sunday 11 & Monday 12 July, followed by an excursion day on Tuesday 13 July.
The theme for the conference this year is Tiakina te Tangata - Looking After You - Tihei Mauri Ora!
The conference is for Māori kaiako and teachers of Māori working across the curriculum, including guidance counsellors and transition teachers, teachers of Te Reo Māori and teachers involved in Māori medium education. Talks and workshops will focus on empowering Māori teachers and learners, Te Tiriti, and ensuring we take time to focus wellbeing in these uncertain times.
As well as keynote speakers sharing their knowledge and vision, the conference will also incorporate a practical hands-on focus with workshops sessions and panel discussions.
Registration is free this year thanks to the PPTA PLD Fund. Delegates will, however, need to seek funding from their kura or PPTA region for travel and accommodation.
Te Huarahi and the wider PPTA Te Wehengarua whanau look forward to seeing you in Pōneke this July.
Nga mihi
Michael Stevenson
PPTA Te Wehengarua General Secretary
