COVID 19 UPDATE

2020 Conference - Postponed!!

It is with great regret that the New Zealand Trade & Industrial Waters Forum (NZTIWF) Board formally announces the postponement of the 2020 Industrial Waters conference until 2021.  I’m sure that this postponement comes as no surprise, due to the COVID-19 restrictions imposed by the government.  The NZTIWF Board has a strong interest and moral responsibility to protect the health of our members and it is very clear that no other option was practical.

But - the conference subcommittee and the conference organisers (Conferences & Events) have been working behind the scenes and are very pleased to announce that the 2021 Industrial Waters conference will be held at the James Cook Hotel in Wellington, 15 to 17 June 2021.

Over the next few weeks Conferences & Events will be contacting presenters and sponsors to update them of the change of date.  The websites will be updated accordingly.

In the meantime the abstract submission portal will remain open on the current conference website, allowing anyone that is interested in submitting a presentation for the conference in 2021, to do so.

We look forward to seeing you in 2021.

Welcome to Industrial Waters 2020

#notjustaconference

Welcome to the 2020 Industrial Waters Conference Wellington. We have entered a new era globally, where people are speaking up to enact change and expecting governments to do better, pollute less and provide leadership on issues such as climate change, sustainability and clean waterways. These are not just problems for the government to fix – we as individuals and as a group need to step up and provide the support, access to the technologies and the expertise to bring about change.
The announcement of a new regulatory authority to cover all of the three waters sector post-Havelock North and the 3 Waters Review is sure to see a degree of standardisation to an otherwise very fragmented sector. How this affects those of us at the coal face remains to be seen, but I for one welcome the change with some enthusiasm.
There is increasing international pressure on our local industries to provide products that have been produced sustainably, which includes the appropriate treatment of wastes from these processes. These industries in turn are looking to us for guidance on where to find the technologies and expertise, to meet these tightening standards.
One of the main goals of this forum has always been to get Regulators, Territorial Authorities, Service Providers and Industry around the same table to facilitate conversations that will balance industrial growth with Infrastructure requirements and environmental outcomes.   This year we will take full advantage of the Wellington location to bring more of the regulators to the table.
As always we will have a great line up of guest speakers and presenters and continuing on from the successful launch at last year’s conference in Dunedin, we will be running training sessions on Day 1. Please do remember to take full advantage of the invaluable networking time between presentations and during breaks to get the most out of this conference. We are a forum and it is all about the sharing of information.
On behalf of the committee I would also like to take the opportunity to thank all of our sponsors for their ongoing support, without them we wouldn’t be able to have such a great event.
So please enjoy your conference and feel free to approach any of the Board members should you wish to discuss any issues you think the forum should be addressing, or if you would like to become more involved.
