Thank you for your interest in the 22nd International Sedimentological Congress (ISC) to be held in Wellington, New Zealand from 25 - 30 January 2026.

The Organising Committee of the ISC 2026 is now calling for Session Proposals before the closing date of 22 November 2024. Preliminary acceptance (see *) will be communicated by 18 December 2024. A member of the Scientific Committee of ISC 2026 will contact you before that date, should similar sessions be proposed.

The over-riding theme of the conference is Sedimentation on active plate margins through time and space. 

During the submission process, please indicate in which sub-theme your session will belong to:

• Tectonic geomorphology and sedimentation
• Volcano-sedimentary processes and deposits
• Non-tropical carbonate deposition and diagenesis
• Seismic and volcanic influences on lacustrine sedimentation
• Seismicity and the relationship to submarine landslides/turbidites/mass transport deposits (MTDs) – modern and ancient
• Interaction of tectonic and eustatic processes in the sedimentary record
• Glacio-fluvial sedimentation
• Downslope and along slope deep marine processes
• Tropical carbonate deposition and diagenesis
• Modern sedimentary processes and deposits: analogues for the rock record
• Sediments, plants, and animals: fossils, trace fossils, paleoecology, and evolution
• Sustainable sedimentary resources: aggregates, critical minerals, and the energy transition
• Sedimentology and society: Societal impacts on sedimentary systems, shallow marine processes and hazards, sea level change
• Other

By submitting a proposal, you are indicating that you are willing to convene the session, actively encourage colleagues to submit abstracts and participate in the session, as well as help organise the session by assessing the abstracts and format of presentation (oral vs poster sessions) and ordering the speakers (if applicable). Members of the Scientific Committee will also provide guidance if required.

*Please note that session selection is preliminary, pending on satisfactory number of submitted abstracts. The Scientific Committee of ISC 2026 reserves the right to combine sessions if required (session convenors will be advised beforehand).
